Roux the Day

The Gourmet Detective is kidnapped by a mysterious cadre of female chefs who want him to find a missing cookbook. Recovering it will have the sleuth staring down book forgers on an old-fashioned paddle boat, careening through the French Quarter in a mule-drawn carriage, and hunting down leads in the fishing shanties of Algiers. While exploring the differences between Creole and Cajun cuisine, he samples some of the spiciest treats he's ever encountered: from blackened redfish coated in garlic to turtle soup seasoned with onion, oregano, and thyme.
